The polls in Turkey closed at 5 pm Greek time and the counting of votes has already begun.

The election process was conducted without much trouble and Turkish voters were asked to decide whether Recep Tayyip Erdogan will remain in power after 20 years.
And in this round an important role is played by the participation of the public, which is just as large according to the first estimates. More than 60 million citizens were invited to vote.

It is recalled that the turnout in the first round reached an impressive 88.8% with Erdogan leading by 2.5 million votes.

Now both candidates have targeted the 8 million voters who did not vote in the first round, hoping to get them to go to the polls in at least this one.

According to the latest opinion polls, it is considered almost unlikely that there will be an upset and that Kemal Kilicdaroglu will emerge as the winner. Recep Tayyip Erdogan is considered the big favorite

Erdogan promises a new era for the country, the so-called “Century of Turkey”. At the same time, however, he is faced with the country’s high inflation and the falling Turkish lira.

“No country in the world has participation rates of 90%, Turkey has almost reached them. I invite my fellow citizens to come and vote,” noted Mr Erdogan today exercising his right to vote, stressing that the vote “will be completed quickly”

On the other hand, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, backed by a broad opposition coalition, he called on voters to come out and “get rid of an authoritarian regime”.
“For true democracy and freedom to come to this country, to get rid of an authoritarian government, I call on all citizens to vote,” Kilicdaroglu said after going to the polls today.
