Tourist boat 16 meters long capsized due to sudden bad weather in Italy’s Lake Maggiore shortly before reaching the shore according to Corriere della Sera.
Four people were recovered dead, three during the night and one more at the first light of day, while one more is missing.
There were 24 people on board, mostly families. Italian firefighters said 19 people had been rescued. Many reportedly managed to swim ashore.
According to La Republica, the boat, which was not far from the coast, capsized when it erupted severe storm and tornado.
The boat sank in a very short time. There were 25 people on board the 16 meter long tourist boat, who were celebrating a birthday.
Nineteen survivors they swam to shore and are safe, according to a post by the fire department on Twitter, which added that the wreck was found by divers at a depth of 16 meters.
