“President Vucic needs to stop supporting criminal gangs if he really wants peace,” said Viosa Osmani
Serbia needs to stop its activities aimed at destabilization of Kosovoto end the violence in northern Kosovo, Kosovo President Viosa Osmani said today, while the EU’s foreign policy chief reiterated that the violence in Kosovo should be sentenced and added that he will continue to speak with the parties involved.
“The challenge comes from Serbia, a country that still needs to come to terms with its past,” Osmani told Reuters on the sidelines of a European summit in Moldova.
“The situation is tense, but there is a need to ensure that we restore the rule of law in Kosovo and that we understand that the threat comes from Serbia’s refusal to recognize the existence of Kosovo as a sovereign state.”
Osmani claimed that Serbia is actively supporting “illegal structures” in Kosovo to destabilize the country from within.
“President Vucic needs to stop supporting criminal gangs if he truly wants peace,” she said. “He hasn’t shown that yet.”
On the sidelines of the summit in Moldova, Josep Borel also said that yesterday, Wednesday, in Slovakia, he called on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to play his role in resolving the crisis, and added that he hopes to convey the same message to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Moldova.
