Chancellor Olaf Solz reacted in an unusually high tone when, during his speech yesterday, a group of “pro-Russian” citizens interrupted him by shouting slogans against him, in relation to the handling of the war in Ukraine.

The German chancellor was a keynote speaker at an event on Europe in the Falkensee area.

Suddenly a group of protesters started shouting slogans like “Warmonger!”, “Make peace without weapons!”, “Disappear!” and “We are the people!”.
Mr. Soltz broke off his speech to respond, expressing his deep indignation.

“Dear speakers, Vladimir Putin is the warmonger you should be shouting about today, if you have any sense in your head (…) Due to the Russian military aggression, I see no alternative to supporting Ukraine, even with weapons (…) Yes , this is necessary, if a country is attacked, then it must and can defend itself – what else is there to do? (…) Putin wants to destroy Ukraine. It killed a lot of people, including children and the elderly. This is murder. Peace and freedom are threatened by this war.”

The majority of German citizens on Twitter applauded Solz’s stance.

The German chancellor also defended his government’s decision to support Ukraine with weapons as well.

“It was and remains right to support Ukraine. After the USA, the Germans offer the most. And we will all continue to do it together for as long as it takes,” he said.
