The girl’s father was supposed to take her to daycare in the morning and her mother to pick her up in the afternoon – However, the father forgot the child in the car and went to his office himself
A 14-month-old girl died on Wednesday in Rome in a car when her father, a police officer, left her there while he was supposed to take her to kindergarten.
According to Italian media, the tragedy occurred in the town of Cecchignola, where the NATO university and residences for military families are located. The girl’s father was to take her to daycare in the morning and her mother to pick her up in the afternoon. However, the father forgot the child in the car and went to his office himself. But when his wife went to pick up the little one, she found that she had never been to school.

In front of the daycare, the woman saw her husband’s car parked with the child in a car seat inside. A passing police officer broke the car window and then tried to help the woman get the child out. The ambulance was called immediately, but the child was already dead.
An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the tragedy. This is yet another case of the forgotten child syndrome.
It is recalled that about a month ago, in Arta, a father forgot his 5.5-month-old baby in the car, as a result of which he died.
