Russian blow in its center Peninsulain the south Ukrainea city that has been affected by large floods after the destruction of a dam on the Dnieper River, causing human casualties and injuries, a spokesman for the Ukrainian military announced.

“After the Russian artillery shelling, there are civilians injured and dead in the center of the city of Kherson. Their number remains to be clarified,” said Sergei Sergeev, press officer in the region.

According to the regional prosecutor’s office, “one civilian was killed and two others were injured.” In a village near Kherson “four residents were injured” in another blow, added a statement.

The attorney general’s office announced that two other people were injured in that incident and four others at another location, and that a war crimes investigation had begun. “Due to targeted airstrikes by the occupying forces during evacuation measures in the city, one civilian lost his life.”

The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Telegram that nine people were injured during the Russian shelling in Kherson, clarifying that it has “no information” about the dead.

The ministry repeated accusations that Russia has abandoned people on the territory it has seized in the Kherson region, adding: “And it continues to prevent Ukraine from saving the most precious — human lives.”

Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed this number and clarified that among these people are “two rescuers, a policeman, a nurse and a German volunteer”.

The governor said earlier today that 68% of the flooded land in the Kherson region is on the Russian-held left bank of the Dnieper River.

Ukrainians have accused the Russian military of strikes in Kherson in recent days as authorities evacuate flooded areas where thousands of civilians have fled their homes after a dam on the Dnieper River was destroyed.

Russia, on the other hand, says the Ukrainian army is targeting civilians fleeing their homes, having killed two earlier today, according to Moscow-installed occupation authorities.
