12 people were arrested as its members, three citizens and nine foreigners, while among them is a 48-year-old Iraqi who is alleged to be the “leader” of the ring.

The arrests were made following a major police operation in the areas of Pieria and Thessaloniki, during which eleven vehicles were also seized. cars as transport vehicles for migrants.

According to an announcement by EL.AS., the ring allegedly illegally trafficked at least 60 immigrants, whom it picked up from the Greek-Turkish border and transported them to Thessaloniki. Characteristic of his action is the “recruiting” of immigrants as drivers as soon as they entered Greek territory, but also the taking of measures to avoid police checks.
