Russia’s state television broadcast images today of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspecting Russian forces in Ukraine in his first public appearance since the failed mutiny by the Wagner mercenary group.

According to the video broadcast by the Russian television network Russia 24, Shoigu, the target of severe criticism by the head of Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin, went to a command center of the Russian forces in Ukraine and “conferred with the leaders” of one of the units.

During this meeting, Shoigu mainly emphasized “the great effectiveness (of the Russian army) in locating and destroying” weapons systems and soldiers of the “enemy”, the Ministry of Defense explained in a statement.

In the images broadcast by the state television network, the Russian minister appears to be listening, in a calm and serious tone, to the report of General Yevgeny Nikiforov, head of the Western Military District of the Russian army, studying geographical maps and also inspecting by helicopter the Russian seats.
