James Jim Crown, the billionaire who vowed to help fight crime in Chicago to make it the safest city in the US, has died in a tragic car accident at a racetrack in Colorado.

James Jim Crown was celebrating his 70th birthday at Aspen Private Motorsports Park on Sunday when his vehicle crashed into a guard rail.

“James Jim Crown was involved in a traffic accident at the Woody Creek Raceway resulting in fatal injuries,” the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Chief Deputy Coroner Audra Keith said the official cause of death is pending an autopsy.

However, “multiple blunt force trauma is evident,” he added, among other things.

The business mogul was CEO of Henry Crown and Company, which oversees the Aspen Skiing Company, a ski resort management and operating company.
