The transfer of a large part of its forces paramilitary organization Wagner in Belarus in the wake of the Prigozhin – Lukashenko deal, that is, thousands of rogue veterans, puts Warsaw, Kiev and Vilnius on alert. The issue will be raised during the Alliance summit in Vilnius in July.

“NATO should consider in detail the issue of the transfer of the Wagner group to Belarus and the development of nuclear weapons in this country,” Polish President Andrzej Duda clarified at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

“Considering that almost at the same time Vladimir Putin is implementing his words about bringing tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of Belarus, we have no doubt that they fundamentally change the security architecture in our region, especially from the point of view of NATO, which has defense tasks to protect the security of member states,” he noted.

“A group of battle-experienced and, above all, well-trained soldiers, and such, undoubtedly, are the soldiers of the Wagner group, which has perhaps many thousands of soldiersis always a potential risk,” he warned.

According to Duda, “it is difficult to rule out that the presence of the Wagner group in Belarus cannot be a possible threat to Poland, Lithuania, which has the longest border with Belarus among our states, but also Latvia, which neighbors Belarus”.

“In this regard, this matter should be examined in detail by NATO and analyzed. I will try to make concrete decisions on this matter within the framework of NATO,” he stressed.

“There is so much evidence that Belarus is a satellite of Russia,” Lithuanian President Gitanas NauÅ¡eda said, noting that “there is no need to we divide between Belarus and Russia. Their regimes are maintained as long as there is fear and hatred. “

“We have also taken some decisions. We will also strengthen counterintelligence and intelligence at the border,” he said.

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky added that “NATO should tell the society of Poland and Lithuania that still and one leg of a person by Wagner steps on the independent territory of Lithuania or Poland, all Wagner fighters will be eliminated. Wherever they are, in whatever region.”
