The fire broke out at around 9.38am – just as staff were preparing to open the store to customers.
The building recently reopened after a long and expensive renovation. American mainstream stars such as Katy Perry, Hailey Bieber and Blake Lively attended the spectacular opening last April.
LVMH, the European luxury powerhouse, bought Tiffany in 2021 for $16 billion. The renovations were estimated by some experts to have cost $500 million.
