Le Monde newspaper reports that fears of further violence in the French capital on Friday night appear to have been unfounded.
Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin described the night he spent in France as calmer than the previous ones.
He pointed out that at least 471 arrests had been made so far in the fourth night of the riots as riots, looting and vandalism continued after the death of 17-year-old Nael on Tuesday in a police shooting in the Paris suburb of Nanterre.

According to the French newspaper, the strong police forces deployed on the streets of the capital prevented the would-be rioters. He notes that only sporadic incidents such as burning of garbage cans and attempted looting have been reported. Police say 120 people were arrested in Paris overnight, according to the newspaper.
However, violence continued in the suburbs of Paris and other cities such as Marseille and Lyon.
In Marseille, the mayor even asked for police reinforcements to deal with the riots
Marseille police said earlier last night that rioters ransacked a gun shop in the city center and took some shotguns but no ammunition.
Looting and vandalism have also been recorded in other cities such as Lyon and Grenoble
In Montreuil, many car fires broke out and many shops were looted.
According to the French Ministry of the Interior, 45,000 police and gendarmes are on the streets of the country
On Macron’s orders, transport stopped at 9pm while Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne announced the deployment of armored police vehicles
