The demonstration took place in the context of the mobilizations against the controversial reform of the judicial system promoted by the Netanyahu government
Hundreds of anti-government protesters gathered outside Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport today and some tried to break through a police cordon to enter the main terminal, sparking clashes.
The pavement outside the arrivals hall was overrun by protesters with flags, drums and whistles. A few dozen managed to briefly enter the hall, as seen in images captured by the Reuters agency.
The demonstration took place in the context of the mobilizations against the controversial reform of the judicial system promoted by the Netanyahu government.
In a call shared on social media, organizers urged protesters to go to the airport with suitcases and passports in order to fool security forces.
The police had assured that they would not allow protesters to disrupt the smooth functioning of the airport. At this time of year, Ben Gurion International Airport handles an average of 90,000 travelers per day.
