Ekrem Imamoglu’s manifesto has the eloquent title “Change for Power”
Call to the head of the CHP (Republican People’s Party) Kemal Kilicdaroglu to resign from the power of the Kemalist party, the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglou, basically calls for in his manifesto that he made public on Tuesday.
Ekrem Imamoglu’s manifesto has the eloquent title “Change for power”.
We are facing, notes the mayor of Istanbul, an opposition structure “that fails to be effective and alternative to power”.
“The opposition voters’ demand for change could not be satisfied. Confidence and hope for regime change could not be established (…) both parliamentary and presidential elections were lost under conditions where the government was weaker. As a result, there was much frustration and despair among those demanding change. It was a missed opportunity for change.”
“Parties are the main guardians of democracy, they have the responsibility to protect and develop democracy. The opposition is not only an alternative proposal for citizens. but also a necessary element of balance and control for democracy” notes the high-ranking member of the major opposition.
As he emphasizes, society expects change for the opposition, and the key to change is the Republican People’s Party. “The decisive will for change in the CHP to the extent that it succeeds in challenging political positions and institutionalizing intra-party democracy.”
