Iran tried to understand two tankers in the Gulf of Oman, the US Navy announced on Wednesday.
The U.S. Navy said it intervened to prevent the attempted seizure of the two merchant tankers by Iranian naval vessels, which were transiting international waters in the Gulf of Oman.
“Iranian navy vessel fired during the second seizure attempt», said Navy Fifth Fleet spokesman Timothy Hawkins.
The US did not provide further information about the tankers.
