Labor leader Sir Kir Starmer has mocked Prime Minister Boris Johnson for not warning him that the May 20, 2020, rally in the Downing Street garden that he attended .
During the weekly parliamentary session with questions to the Prime Minister at noon, Mr. Starmer said that “no one believes” the Prime Minister who has “ridiculous and unbelievable excuses”.
He then asked Boris Johnson when he learned that his associates had reservations about the party. The prime minister declined to comment, citing important decisions made by his associates on Downing Street to tackle the pandemic and the party investigation conducted by senior state official Sue Gray. The result of the research is probably expected next week.
“The prime minister expects us to believe that while everyone who attended the rally on Downing Street was told it was a social event, he and he alone were told it was a business meeting. Does he realize how ridiculous this sounds? ” commented the Labor leader.
Asked by Mr Starmer whether a prime minister should step down if he had misled parliament, Mr Johnson again declined to comment.
The Prime Minister then received a barrage of critical questions from opposition lawmakers, with many calling for him to resign. Labor MP Diana Johnson said it was time to step down when a prime minister tried to persuade him that he was “stupid and not dishonest”.
In an intervention that caused a sensation, the resignation of the Prime Minister was indirectly requested by the former Minister of Brexit of the Conservatives, David Davis.
