The delay in the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is bad for the project participants and for consumers and for the economic development of Europe in general, said Dmitry Peshkov, spokesman for the President of the Russian Federation.
Referring to statements by German Chancellor Olaf Soltz, who did not rule out taking action against Nord Stream 2 in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, the Kremlin spokesman noted that “regularly, every day, someone threatens Russia with something.”
“The international commercial project Nord Stream 2 cannot be deactivated because it has not yet been activated. And the fact that it does not work is actually bad for both those who participated in this project and those who consume gas in Europe. “It’s bad for the economic development of Europe, which, incidentally, is also suffering significantly at this time of pandemic,” Peshkov told reporters.
Russia values its “very important relations” with Germany and hopes to develop them consistently, the Russian spokesman added 24 hours after the first meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries Analena Berbok and Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
