Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky he said that his country and Bulgaria agreed to have more active cooperation in the defense sector and that he invited Sofia to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

“We discussed the military aid that Bulgaria provides to our country. We count on continuing the partnership that has already saved many lives“, the Ukrainian president emphasized at a joint press conference with Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkof in the Bulgarian capital.

He also thanked the Balkan country for its support as Ukraine battles the Russian invasion.

Bulgaria is a member state of NATO and the European Union, which Ukraine wants to join. Zelensky said ahead of the talks that a NATO summit in Lithuania next week is on the agenda for his talks.

Shortly before the start of the talks, an energy cooperation memorandum was signed between the two countries.

“Together we are ready to give our countries greater guarantees of energy stability, as well as attractive prices for ordinary peopleZelensky said.

In addition, he invited Bulgaria to participate in the reconstruction effort in Ukraine, especially in the reconstruction of the education sector.

The Ukrainian leader said that Bulgaria is also ready to help in the fields of ecology and digitization.
