THE Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau via twitter tried to convince her American pop star Taylor Swift to add Canada to her “Eras Tour” world tour, after Swift announced 14 new concert dates in Europe.

“Hello. I am. I know places in Canada that would love to see you. So don’t make this another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon,” Trudeau wrote, responding late last night to an earlier tweet Swift had posted with her new tour dates and stops.

Swift’s song “Cruel Summer,” released in 2019, is being performed on the tour and has become a bigger hit this year than when it first appeared on her “Lover” album.

The tour, which kicked off in March in Arizona, includes more than 100 shows through the summer of 2024 in the US, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia, but none in Canada.

It’s not the first time Swift’s non-selection of Canada has been the subject of political debate. Last month, Conservative MP Matt Generoux filed what he called a “formal complaint” on social media, begging the American pop star to arrange concerts in Canada.
