France has only had five meteorite landings in the 21st century – According to National Geographic, Ann Hodges is the only confirmed person in history to have been hit by a meteorite
In a strange accident on July 6th at Schirmeck, a woman hit by meteorite on its sides, as reported in its publication by the French newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace.
Getting hit by a meteorite is an extremely rare event.
The woman was sitting on the porch with a friend when she heard a loud “bang” from the rooftop next to her.
“At the second same noise I heard, I felt a shock in my ribs. I thought it was an animal, a bat!” she recounted.
“We thought it was a piece of cement, the kind we apply to the tiles at the top of the house but it wasn’t the same colour.”
Fortunately for the woman, there was one small piece of rock which bounced off the ceiling and only hit her chest. She has a bruise on her chest and near her ribs, but other than that she is not injured elsewhere and is in no danger.
Extraterrestrial origin
THE shocked woman carried the rock to the geologist Dr. Thierry Rebmann, who examined him and confirmed that he had extraterrestrial originaccording to DNA.
“Finding a meteor is already unusualbut to be in direct contact with it and have it fall on you is astronomical rare,” said Dr. Rehmann.
France has only had five meteorite landings in the 21st century. According to National Geographic, Ann Hodges is the one confirmed person in history to be hit by a meteorite.
In 1954 a woman was also struck by a meteorite while sleeping in her living room when a piece of black rock the size of a tennis ball broke through her ceiling and hit her in the thigh. Nevertheless, the woman survived, she was just slightly injured.
