The Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that valuable ancient artifacts from Israel that the country had loaned to the United States in 2019 – during Trump’s presidency – for an exhibition at the White House, were finally found at the former American president’s mansion in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. .

The antiquities, part of Israel’s collection of national treasures, had been sent to Washington on the occasion of an event for the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Ultimately the exhibition never took place due to US concerns that the artifacts might have been taken from the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Then, the coronavirus pandemic broke out in early 2020 and the antiquities were never returned to Israelas agreed.

Recently the government of Israel began to investigate the matter and it turned out that the ancient artifacts were found in Trump’s mansionwhere the FBI discovered the infamous cardboard boxes of classified documents, which were found stored in restrooms and other areas.

The current director of the Israel Antiquities Authority, Eli Eskozido, stated that so far efforts by Israeli officials to return the items have proved fruitless.

The report, however, does not make clear how the Israeli antiquities ended up at Mar-a-Lago, or whether this was all done with Trump’s knowledge.

In fact, a source with knowledge of the case told Haaretz that he would not be surprised if “the items that Israel is looking for are eventually found again in some toilet there.”
