Night raids on cities in southern Ukraine continue for a third consecutive night
At least three people were killed and a building of Chinese Consulate was damaged during the third straight night of airstrikes on southern Ukrainian cities, Ukrainian officials said.
Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper posted a photo showing at least one broken window at the Chinese consulate in the city of Odesa. There are no signs of other damage.
Beijing, an ally of Moscow, has not yet commented on the incident. Yesterday Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 60,000 tons of agricultural products destined for China were destroyed by an attack on the port of another Ukrainian city.
Moscow says it is launching “retaliatory strikes”, days after it pulled out of a deal to export grain through the Black Sea and blames Ukraine for explosions on the Crimean bridge, which it used to transport munitions.
According to Ukraine’s armed forces, Russia launched 19 missiles and 19 drones overnight. Five missiles and 13 of these aircraft were shot down.
“Russian terrorists continue their efforts to destroy the life of our country. We will all get through this horrible time together. And we will withstand the attacks of the Russian evil,” Zelensky wrote on the Telegram app.
In Odessa, a security guard was killed and eight other people, including a child, were injured, Kiper said.
In Mykolife, a couple was killed, according to mayor Oleksandr Senkevich. Regional governor Vitaly Kim earlier reported that 19 people were injured and many buildings were destroyed in the city. Firefighters battled to contain a large fire in a three-story building, the roof of which collapsed.
