NATO members Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will send US anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, according to a joint statement issued by the Baltic defense ministries of the three Baltic states. The three neighboring countries fear a Russian attack on Ukraine.
“Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and their Allies are working together without delay to deliver security assistance to Ukraine,” the statement said.
Estonia will send Javelin anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine and the other two countries will deliver Stinger anti-aircraft missiles.
The State Department gave the green light to the Baltic states to send American-made weapons systems to Ukraine, three sources familiar with the decision said on Wednesday.
The situation in Ukraine has reached a point of no return, and escalation to open conflict is inevitable, the commander of the Estonian Defense Forces (EDF) said on Wednesday ahead of the Lavrov-Blinken meeting in Geneva on Friday.
