Operations at Charleroi airport will be mainly affected
Ryanair pilots in Belgium have announced a new strike, which will take place on the weekend of July 29-30.
Irish airline pilots are demanding their pay be reinstated after cuts suffered during the novel coronavirus pandemic. They also report problems with rest time.
Several meetings have been held between representatives of the pilots and the company, to no avail.
Citing the company’s “complete disrespect for pilots”, the CNE/ACV Puls union is calling for a strike on the last weekend of July.
Operations at Charleroi airport will be mainly affected, as although Ryanair also flies to Zaventem, the aircraft it uses there are not based in Belgium.
In the previous strike (July 15 and 16), according to the Charleroi Airport Authority (BSCA) almost four out of ten passengers (38%) were affected by flight cancellations.
Over 80% of Ryanair pilots took part in that strike, resulting in the cancellation of 120 flights that weekend.
