Police in Japan have announced that they have arrested a woman and her parents in a bizarre beheading case. The arrest came three weeks after a headless body was found in a hotel room. After intensive investigations by the police, the skull of the victim was found at the house of the family of the suspects.

Police on the island of Hokkaido announced today (25/7) that they yesterday arrested Runa Tamura, 29, and her father Osamu Tamura, a 59-year-old psychiatrist, on suspicion of conspiring to behead the victim in a hotel room and transport his severed head overnight between July 1 and 2. The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Hitoshi Ura.

Police are still investigating a motive for the killing and declined to say whether the woman and the victim knew each other. Information suggests that the suspect is facing serious psychiatric problems.

The 62-year-old man was initially stabbed and beheaded after his death, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported, citing police sources.
