The Archbishop of the United States of America, Hopefully, visited the Ambassador of Ukraine in Washington, Oksana Markarova, on Friday, speaking harshly against Russia’s policy in Ukraine, but also against the Moscow Patriarchate.
Mr. Elpidoforos expressed the full support and encouragement of himself and “all of us as Christians, as Greeks and as Americans” to the Ukrainian people “who suffer from Russian imperialism, as it manifests at all levels, military, economic, energy and ecclesiastical “.
As the Archbishop of America stressed, “it is an injustice to the history and tradition of Orthodoxy that the Moscow Patriarchate, instead of supporting our brothers in Ukraine, to obediently follow orders, the instructions and the line of the Kremlin, to divide Orthodoxy all over the world and to scandalize the people of God from Ukraine to Africa and even to distant Korea “.
In fact, Archbishop Elpidoforos praised the US government’s stance and welcomed the recent statement by the State Department spokesman, who condemned the Kremlin’s malicious efforts to instrumentalize Orthodox identity.
