Blinken: Why should we not impose sanctions on Russia now?

The US Secretary of State gave a series of interviews on several American television networks.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Sunday that if sanctions were imposed on Russia now, the West would lose the ability to prevent a possible Moscow offensive against Ukraine.

Blinken has given a series of interviews on several American television networks.

The US diplomat told CNN that if an additional Russian force entered Ukraine “in an aggressive manner”, it would trigger a “significant response”.

When asked by CBS if the fact that the United States needed Russia’s support in the Iran nuclear talks tied Washington’s hands on the Ukraine issue, he replied “not in the slightest.” He added that he did not believe that Russia’s decisions on Ukraine would be affected by the start of the Winter Olympics.

For Germany, he told NBC that “there is no doubt” that the country shares American concerns about Russia.

Referring to the US diplomats in Ukraine, the US Secretary of State commented that Washington is examining the situation on a daily basis.
