58.23% of Turkish Cypriot voters exercised their right to vote in the early elections held today, Sunday, in the occupied territories to elect the new so-called “deputies” of the pseudo-state. The abstention rate reached 41.77%, which is a record for an electoral process in the Turkish Cypriot community.
In the so-called “parliamentary” elections, 8 parties came down with a total of 403 candidates, from which the pseudo-government will emerge. 50 “deputies” are elected.
763 polling stations were set up in six “provinces”, 203,792 were registered voters. Those who came had the right to vote in three ways: Party (only), party and candidate and mixed – horizontal voting, so the count is not expected to be completed tonight but in 24 hours. Earlier, the percentages of the parties will be known, as well as how many, but also which of them will manage to pass the 5%, which is the limit of admission to the pseudo-parliament, which will be non-partisan.
Favorite in the process that started at 8 in the morning and ended at 6 in the afternoon appears the Right Party of National Unity of the Turkish leader Ersin Tatar, which is expected to maintain the lead, but not its autonomy, despite the recent blow with the publication of “pink” videos with the involvement of its executives, while second, as everything shows, the center-left Republican Turkish Party will end. The People’s Party, the Democratic Party, the Community Democracy Party, the Renaissance Party (of the settlers), the Community Liberation Party and the Independence Road movement also participated.
