An FBI raid on a house in the city of Provo in Utah, USA, to arrest a suspect who had made threats against President Biden, Vice President Harris and high-ranking officials had a bloody end. The man was killed in a shootout while trying to evade arrest, according to authorities.

The FBI office in Salt Lake City announced that the incident occurred when agents, with a warrant for the suspect’s arrest, raided the home.

According to a court document cited by the Reuters news agency, Craig Robertson had made threats against the lives of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg – who led a judicial investigation against of former US President Donald Trump.

The CBS television network reported that in a post he made on August 6, Robertson wrote: “I hear Biden is coming to Utah”, adding that he was “cleaning” the M24 (including a Remington sniper rifle), accompanying the message with photo in which he posed in military uniform.

In an earlier post, Robertson wrote that he was going to New York “to make my dream come true, to destroy Bragg.”

Politically motivated violence has been on the rise in recent years in the US, with Reuters highlighting in a report published yesterday that the situation is at its worst level since the 1970s.
