The Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni revokes the permission to grant the Ermou Street building to the Association of Greek Archaeologists (SEA).

The decision, posted in Diaygeia on 11/8/2023, foresees “the revocation of the concession of use of a property at 134-136 Ermou Street, property of the Hellenic State/Ministry of Culture to the Association of Greek Archaeologists” noting that this is done “for reasons of public interest ».

SYRIZA reactions

The decision of the Minister of Culture L. Mendonis by which she revokes the concession of the use of a property to the Association of Greek Archaeologists, is requested by SYRIZA – PS in its announcement.

In its announcement, SYRIZA claims: “Ms. Mendoni, showing once again her authoritarian face in culture, last night with a Ministerial Decision, revoked the concession of the building in which the Association of Greek Archaeologists is housed. Mrs. Mendoni could not “forgive” SEA for hosting an event in its offices about the shipwreck in Pylos, which shocked the world and the investigation of its responsibilities has mobilized the European institutions.

Subsequently, SYRIZA states: “It is a clear sign of zero tolerance for a different point of view and any voice of criticism, and it is obvious that with such vindictive actions the Minister of Culture is trying to impose a general silence”, and concludes by underlining: “We stand by SEA, by the people of the civilization. Mendoni’s decision to evict SEA must be annulled.”
