Strong explosions were heard early today in Syria at pro-Iranian paramilitary missile depots near Damascus, causing significant material damage, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
Residents of Damascus and surrounding areas heard “loud explosions” coming from “pro-Iranian paramilitary warehouses” in a mountainous area east of the capital, the Observatory said.

“We don’t know if it’s an airstrike or a ground operation,” Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Observatory, which is based in Britain but has a wide network of sources in Syria, told AFP.
For its part, the official Sana news agency reported that overnight “sounds of explosions” were heard in the “outskirts of Damascus”, without specifying the cause.
