THE London Metropolitan Police (Met) announced today that questioned a man about the reported theft of items from the British Museum’s collectionsstressing that he has so far made no arrests in the case.

The British Museum announced last week the theft of artefacts, including jewelery and semi-precious stones dating back to the 15th century BC. to the 19th century, highlighting how he fired an employee deemed responsible. According to the museum, it was found that objects of collections were “missing, stolen or damaged”.

“A man has been questioned,” the Met said in a statement. “We have been working closely with the management of the British Museum and will continue to do so… inquiries are ongoing.”

The Museum’s management, which said the majority of the objects were small pieces kept in a warehouse, said it was taking legal action against the person.
