Iran’s uranium enrichment is continuing under a framework law by the country’s parliament, its head said today of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency Mohammad Eslamiresponding to a question about information about Tehran’s slowing of uranium enrichment to 60%.

“Our uranium enrichment continues under the strategic framework law,” Eslami noted, referring to relevant legislation.

Earlier this month the American paper Wall Street Journal wrote that Iran has significantly slowed the rate at which it is building up enriched uranium near levels suitable for developing a nuclear weapon and that it has thinned out some of its stockpile, moves that could help ease tensions with the U.S. and revive broader talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

In 2020 his parliament Iran passed a law that provides for the government to take steps such as accelerating uranium enrichment above the limit set by the 2015 accord with international powers on the country’s nuclear program if the other sides do not fully comply with the deal.

After the departure of USA since that deal, in 2018, and Washington’s reimposition of sanctions on Iran, Tehran has begun to violate the limits on its nuclear program set by the deal.
