It seems that Turkey is preparing to welcome a delegation from the IMF in September, as the Turkish television network KRT reported today. He added that by the end of the year they will have completed their report on the country.

According to the correspondent of SKAI in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, the journalist from the Turkish network reported that the group received an invitation from the Ministry of Finance. For his part, however, the ministry itself denied the information but emphasized that it might happen a routine technical visit.

Tthe IMF itself has confirmed in its statement the “routine” visit as it characterizes as a step to Turkey next September.

“The IMF technical team will make a regular visit to Turkey in late September to hold talks with Turkish officials in preparation for the Article 4 consultation.”

“The IMF has not received any indication from the Turkish authorities that they intend to request financial assistance from the Fund”the statement added, saying the visit will also provide an opportunity to exchange views on recent economic developments, the economic outlook and macroeconomic fiscal policies.

The former president of the Liberal Party, Jem Toker speaking about the economic situation of the country he said that “there is no light at the end of the tunnel and with Simsek and another minister I am not optimistic. But what I do know is that we will end up at the IMF.”
