“The drones used to attack Pskov’s Kresti Air Base were launched from inside Russia,” wrote o Kirill Budanov on his Telegram account, also posting the link to the interview he gave to The War Zone in which he made the relevant statements.

“We do business from the territory of Russia”, he emphasized.

Budanov in his interview did not want to specify whether the operation was carried out by Ukrainians or Russians acting on behalf of Kiev.

Besides Budanov pointed out that “two (Russian military aircraft) were destroyed and two more were seriously damaged.”

The website War Zone published satellite images showing charred aircraft.

Drones overnight targeted a military airfield in Pskov, a region in northwestern Russia on the border with Estonia, Latvia and Belarus, where elite paratrooper units are stationed.

When asked about where the drones were launched from, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov limited himself on Wednesday to stating that “military experts are working to determine the path of the drones in order to take steps to prevent this type of situation from happening again.”

Although drone attacks are common against Russian regions near the border with Ukraine, as well as against Moscow, attacks this far north, some 700 to 800 kilometers from the border, are rare.
