The Russian Defense Ministry announced that Ukrainian remote-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in the border regions of Bryansk and Belgorod on the night of Wednesday-Thursday, without mentioning any casualties at this stage.

In four separate announcements, the ministry said via Telegram that six drones were shot down between 22:00 and 00:45 (local and Greek time) over the western region of Bryansk, which borders Ukraine.

The regional governor Alexander Bogamas spoke, also via Telegram, about the downing of six Ukrainian UAVs in the regions of Unetsky, Brashavsky, Staradubsky and Karachevsky. The latter is located very close to the city of Bryansk, the capital of the region of the same name.

No casualties or damage were reported, according to Mr Bogamas.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said another Ukrainian drone was shot down at 21:30 over the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.

Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov clarified that it was intercepted above the village of Tulianka, a few tens of kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

Ukrainian drone attacks against Russian communities near the border, on the Crimean peninsula, or in the capital Moscow, have multiplied in recent months, against the background of Kiev’s counter-offensive, which began in early June.

Russia said two Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the Belgorod region on Monday and two naval drones were destroyed in the Black Sea on Tuesday after an early morning cruise missile attack on a shipyard in Sevastopol, Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Sevastopol is the base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy.

The attack on the shipyard completely destroyed a landing craft and a submarine under repair, according to converging sources.
