A member of the North Korean leader’s security sprayed and wiped the seat, arms and legs of the chair and even the area around it
Members of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s security took several minutes to disinfect the chair Kim sat on during the summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Kommersant newspaper reported today.
In a video clip released by the newspaper, a member of North Korean security, wearing white gloves, is seen carefully wiping down Kim’s black chair and spraying it with an unspecified substance.

The North Korean sprayed and wiped the seat, arms and legs of the chair and even the area around it, while a Kremlin bodyguard watched, rather bewildered. Then another North Korean guard gave some sort of order to the man doing the decontamination. It is not clear what this order was about.
“The chair turned out to be a matter of great concern for the North Korean side,” Andrei Kolesnikov, the paper’s Kremlin correspondent, wrote in Kommersant.
Apparently, Kim’s security team — more than 100 people — was not satisfied with the first chair, and then the Russian side produced a second one — exactly the same — according to Kommersant.
“Then a North Korean employee wiped the chair intended for Kim Jong Un for several minutes without stopping, wearing white gloves. Judging by the smell, they disinfected it,” Kommersant reported. “After all, it was a matter of life and death for them, but not for their leader.”
