The first information speaks of four injured, members of the Greek mission.
The Greek C-130 is returning to Libya as an emergency, as according to “Kathimerini” information, members of the mission carrying Greek humanitarian aid to the African country were involved in a serious traffic accident.
The first information speaks of four injured, members of the Greek mission.
According to the same information, the car that transported them from Benghazi airport to the area where the international aid is gathered, collided with a truck. The four wounded have been transferred to a makeshift hospital in Benghazi to be given first aid.
As soon as the news became known in Athens, an order was given for the immediate take-off of the C-130, which in the meantime had returned to Eleusis. The Air Force plane is transporting specialized medical personnel to take care of the wounded Greeks, while in the next few hours it will be decided whether there is a reason to bring them back to Athens.
Humanitarian aid from Athens
At 9:30 a.m. Sunday, an Air Force transport plane landed at Benghazi airport with two tons of food and Armed Forces medics to relieve “Daniel”-stricken Libya.
It is recalled that especially in the case of eastern Libya, Athens in previous years had attempted to deepen ties, as Benghazi opposes the regime of Tripoli. Of course, the decision was helped by the fact that from the first moment Turkey sent significant material aid to Libya with transport planes.
