France said on Tuesday it was working with its partners to respond forcefully after what it called an unjustified military operation launched by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“France calls on Azerbaijan to immediately stop its attack and return to respect for international law,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
“France is working closely with its European and American partners to provide a strong response to this unacceptable attack, commensurate with the risks it poses to the security of the region,” the ministry said.
France, along with the United States and Russia, are co-chairs of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group that mediates on Nagorno-Karabakh.
