THE Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation at Nagorno Karabakh by Russian President Vladimir Putinin a telephone conversation the two leaders had today, a few hours after a truce was declared in this enclave.

Pashinyan’s spokeswoman, Nazeli Baghdasarian, said via Facebook that “the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed,” without further elaboration. Russian news agency TASS reported that Putin and Pashinyan also discussed issues of bilateral interest.

At the same time, thousands of people demonstrated in front of the Armenian government headquarters in Yerevan, demanding Pashinyan’s resignation. “We are losing our homeland, our people,” said one of the protesters, 20-year-old musician Sargis Hayats.

Opposition parties called on parliament to start a “procedure to impeach” the prime minister, Iskan Saghatelian of the Dachnaktsoutyoun party announced to the crowd. These parties also want a “national committee” to be set up to direct the popular movement and “liberate us from these authorities,” he added.
