The goal of the conference will be to help Ukraine keep its economy running and, in the longer term, rebuild its infrastructure
Germany will host an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine next year, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
The talks will take place in Berlin on June 11, 2024, the chancellery said in a statement.
The most recent conference for this purpose was held in June in London with the participation of leaders and representatives of more than 60 countries and financial institutions, in order to release resources for the reconstruction of Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
The goal of the conference will be to help Ukraine keep its economy running and, in the longer term, rebuild its infrastructure.
Solz met with the Ukrainian president for half an hour on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday, Wednesday.
The political, military and humanitarian situation in Ukraine were at the center of their talks, the chancellery said.
Scholz reaffirmed that Germany will continue to support Kiev.
In a post on the Telegram messaging app, Zelensky noted that he and Soltz “discussed the situation on the front line and the priority needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.”
“Particular attention was paid to the preparation of the international conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Germany,” he added.
