Two F-35A fighter jets by Lockheed Martin they landed on a freeway for the first time -as seen from his visual material norwegian army-something that it allows them to reduce, in wartime, the time they are vulnerable by remaining on the ground.

The two aircraft of the Royal Norwegian Air Force landed in Tervo in central Finland yesterday, Thursday, at noon as part of a military exercise.

Immediately after landing, they were refueled without shutting down the engines, the Norwegian military announcedand then the aircraft took off again.

“Fighter aircraft are vulnerable on the ground, so by being able to use small military airfields–and for that matter highways– their survivability in wartime increasesRoyal Norwegian Air Force Lieutenant General Rolf Folland said in a statement.

Finland, which joined NATO in April, shares a 1,300-kilometer border with Russia. THE Norway is a founding member of the Alliance.

Another type of F-35, the F-35B, which can take off vertically, has previously landed on roads.

This was a first for this particular model of the F-35, which cannot take off vertically.

F-16s can also land on a road.

Finland plans to buy 64 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin.
