The two aircraft of the Royal Norwegian Air Force landed in Tervo in central Finland yesterday, Thursday, at noon as part of a military exercise.

“Fighter aircraft are vulnerable on the ground, so by being able to use small military airfields–and for that matter highways– their survivability in wartime increases“Royal Norwegian Air Force Lieutenant General Rolf Folland said in a statement.
Finland, which joined NATO in April, shares a 1,300-kilometer border with Russia. THE Norway is a founding member of the Alliance.
Another type of F-35, the F-35B, which can take off vertically, has previously landed on roads.
This was a first for this particular model of the F-35, which cannot take off vertically.
F-16s can also land on a road.
Finland plans to buy 64 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin.
