A Kosovar policeman was killed and another wounded in a shooting in a village in northern Kosovo early this morning, Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti said in a statement.

“At this moment, the firing of firearms of various calibers against our police continues,” Kurti said in a Facebook post, in which he characterized the incident as an act of terrorism.

“The attackers are professionals who wear masks and are heavily armed,” he adds.

Kurti’s post

“Dear fellow citizens,
Around 3 a.m. today, in the village of Banjska in Leposavic, Kosovo police were attacked, killing one Kosovo police officer and wounding another. The dead man is a police officer with the rank of sergeant, and the wounded member of the border police. At this point, caliber firearms are still in development in our police force. The attackers are professionals wearing masks and armed with heavy weapons.

We condemn this criminal and terrorist attack. Organized crime with political, economic and logical support from official Belgrade is attacking our state. In this battle we defend and enforce the law, protect and preserve the citizens of an independent and independent Kosovo. Criminal perpetrators and their commanders will fail, be caught, tried and punished.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo and state institutions are ready and united to respond to crime and criminals, terrorism and terrorists. Kosovo police informed the family of the murdered policeman AB The injured policeman is out of danger for life. Condolences to the family and all for our murdered officer. Speedy and full recovery to the injured police officer.”
