An exchange of fire between gangs, according to the information so far, took place at 12.30 noon on Monday outside the courthouse in Izmir, Turkey, in Bairakli district. During the clash one person was killed and five were injured.

According to Turkish media, a group sitting on the upper floor of a restaurant opposite the courthouse, where it was learned that a case was being heard on Monday, was fired upon by another group, resulting in a clash between the two groups.

The cases of both groups were to be tried in Izmir due to a homicide that had been committed in the past.

The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

“I had left the court. Two teams clashed. We were very scared. I hid under a parked car to save my life. I thought it was a terrorist attack. Unfortunately, there were injuries.”

Turkish police have launched an investigation into the bloody incident. Two attackers who used long weapons during the conflict were arrested at the scene.
