Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Pope Francis, Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby and other leading religious leaders will take part, tonight, in St. Peter’s Square, in an “Ecumenical Night of Prayer”.

The ceremony is expected to end at 8 pm local time and is being carried out by the initiative of, among others, the well-known French monastic community of Tezé. At the same time, over three thousand young people, who arrived in the Italian capital from all over the world, will take part overnight.

As the Tesese community emphasized “this meeting, which takes place in Rome and simultaneously in other parts of the world, focuses on a simple ceremony, to listen to the word of the Lord, with a long moment of silence and mediation in favor of peace” .

According to the organizersthe preparation of the night was a real exercise of communion, with the desire to take part in it, many church partners. Over fifty, of different denominations, who worked together, in close cooperation with the competent sectors of the Catholic Church». Tomorrow the Ecumenical Patriarch is going to officiate at the divine service in the Orthodox church of Agios Theodoros Tironos, in the Palatine of the Eternal City.
