Russia shot down 31 Ukrainian drones overnight, which were launched by Ukraine against the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced.

There are no reports of casualties or damage.

In another development, Ukrainian forces used cluster munitions against villages in the southern Russian region of Bryansk, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said via the Telegram platform.

There were no casualties in the attacks, although houses were damaged, he added.

Reuters points out that it was unable to confirm the information. There was no immediate comment from the Kyiv government.

Ukraine has taken cluster munitions from the United States and has pledged to use them only to repel concentrations of enemy soldiers.

Russian officials in Bryansk and other regions bordering Ukraine have repeatedly accused Kiev of indiscriminate shelling by Ukrainian armed forces.

Cluster munitions have been banned by more than 100 countries. They usually release small bombs that kill indiscriminately over a wide area. Those that don’t explode are a hazard for decades.
