Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy Double-Indicted in Fraud Investigation which aimed to clear him of suspicion for the financing from Libya tof his election campaign in 2007, it became known from a judicial source.
According to the source, Nicolas Sarkozy was prosecuted for concealing incitement to commit perjury in relation to the withdrawal of charges brought against him by Franco-Lebanese mediator Ziad Taqieddin in late 2020 and for participating in a conspiracy to commit the offense of defrauding the court in an organized gang.
This court decision paves the way for a possible new trial against the former president.
It was obtained after hours-long interrogations lasting three and a half days by two economic judges tasked with the investigation that began in May 2021 of the operation called “Sauver Sarkozy” (Save Sarkozy) by one of the defendants.
By indictment, the judges show that they have sufficient aggravating or relevant evidence regarding his participation in his maneuverss, in which are mixed at least nine other protagonists who are involved in various degrees and moments, possibly giving his consent.
The first stage of the operation consisted of securing the withdrawal of the charges against Nicolas Sarkozy by the pen name Ziad Taqiedin at the end of 2020 in exchange for a possible payment.
Then, in the first half of 2021, some of those involved tried to secure proof that the Libyan document, published between the two rounds of the 2012 presidential election on the Mediapart website and referring to €50 million in funding, was fake.
