The Israeli military statement names two Hamas commanders who were allegedly involved in the massacre committed in southern Israel on October 7
The Israeli military announced today that six senior Hamas officials have been killed so far in its strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Among those killed are members of the political, as well as the military wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement that rules Gaza, a spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces clarified.
The announcement names two Hamas commanders who were allegedly involved in the massacre committed in southern Israel on October 7. In addition, a commander responsible for security in the southern part of the Gaza Strip was killed, it added.
Two of these three Palestinian Islamist movement officials were killed over the weekend.
The Israeli military statement also named two senior Hamas officials who were reportedly killed last week, Hamas Finance Minister Jawad Abu Samala and Zakaria Abu Maamar, who was said to be in charge of international relations.
Israel accuses Shamalla of managing resources for Hamas militants and leading Hamas operations against Israel.
In addition, the head of air traffic control in Gaza City was killed.
The aim of Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, in retaliation for the worst massacre of civilians in its history, is to eliminate the leadership of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
However, a significant part of the Hamas leadership does not live in the Gaza Strip, but abroad. For example, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniya lives in Qatar.
