“Major demonstrations related to events in Israel and Gaza are expected across Turkey for the next few weeks,” it said. “Any gathering, even one intended to be peaceful, could escalate and turn violent. Protest activity may result in increased police presence, road closures and traffic disruptions.”
It also noted that US government personnel were “instructed to minimize movement” and avoid travel to this area in southeastern Turkey.
The US State Department has issued advisories from its embassies in other areas, including Beirut and Amman, where there were similar announcements informing US citizens of ongoing protests, many of which targeted US diplomatic facilities.
