85-year-old Yocheved Lifsic described her life as hell, describing how she was abducted by Hamas gunmen on motorbikes from her kibbutz
One of the two elderly women held hostage by Hamas since October 7 gave a press conference from the Tel Aviv hospital where she is being treated.
85-year-old Joceved Lifsic characteristically stated that he lived a hell, describing how Hamas gunmen on motorcycles kidnapped her from her kibbutz.
Even as reported by the BBC, she claimed that she was brought into Gaza through a gate, and in the transport she suffered bruises and difficulty breathing.
Lifsic added that the Israeli government spent billions on the border fence – but did nothing to stop Hamas from crossing.
“My ribs were pounding and I was having trouble breathing”
“They put me on a motorcycle, blew up the electronic fence that cost $2 million to build, but it didn’t help at all. I was taken hostage, there was no distinction between old and young. It was very painful. My ribs were pounding and I was having trouble breathing.”
The kidnappers removed her watch and jewelry as they led her away. When she got off the motorbike, the people who greeted her told her that they “believe in the Koran” and therefore would not harm her.
“We came to a tunnel, then we walked for kilometers on wet ground, there is a giant system of tunnels, like a spider’s web”he said.
“We were visited by a doctor and given some food”
She said they slept on mattresses on the floor in the tunnels under Gaza, with a doctor visiting them every two to three days. A prisoner seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on the road to Gaza was treated for his injuries. The 85-year-old added that a nurse came to see them to bring them the medicines they needed.
But the kidnappers “took care of every detail, even for women’s hygiene”, reports the BBC.
Joceved Lifsic added that while being held in the tunnels, her group was given white cheese and cucumber to eat, which her captors also ate.
“The story isn’t over until they all come back”reports on the remaining hostages held by Hamas.
